The Game Changer – RFLink

The Game Changer – RFLink

The industry’s only solution that combines GPS based tracking devices integrated with active RFID tags.

IMG_7633.jpg

An RFTag is placed on every trailer or container, and a Piccolo Plus with an RFLink module is installed in every truck. In addition to sending the GPS position, driver behavior and via the air engine diagnostics the Piccolo Plus is also communicating wirelessly to the RFTags placed on every trailer. The range of the RF communication is up to 250ft (70m) and is configurable for shorter range as needed. The RFTag is sending attach and detach data to Fleet.Net via the Piccolo Plus that is adding to it the current date, time and GPS location data and sending it to the Fleet.net server so you know what asset was picked up and dropped off when and where and by what truck and/or driver. At the Fleet.net server you will have a view and can generate a print out of the last know location of every container and for how long it has been parked at that place.

Passive RFID Tags

The functionality of this solution is the same as described above except the distance is shorter. A high-powered Passive RFID reader is installed on the truck and is connected to the Piccolo Plus. A Passive RFID tag is installed on every container or asset. The range of communication between the reader and the tag is around 18ft (5.5m).

Monitor when and where a student gets on and off a bus while managing your fleet.

RFLink is a revolutionary accurate and reliable solution to monitor when and where a student gets on and off a bus and is fully integrated with the GPS based fleet management system that tracks the bus.

The solution includes a Piccolo Plus GPS unit installed in the bus that in

When the student gets off the bus the link will be broken and the Piccolo will send a notification to the server with the date, time and exact location where the student got off the bus.

The server will display visually in real-time the location of each bus and the list of students on that bus and will generate reports as needed.

The advantage of using the RFTags is that the registration of getting on and off the bus is done automatically – no action is required by the student.

Passive RFID – A passive RFID reader connected via RS232 to the Piccolo Plus that is installed in the bus.

The passive RFID reader is installed on the dashboard of the bus. Each student is provided with a passive RFID tag that is about the size of a credit card or with a key chain butt􀂂on tag the size of a dime. When the student gets on or off the bus they are required to scan the RFID tag by passing the tag around 5” (8cm) from the RFID reader. The Piccolo Plus will send via cellular the ID of the scanned RFID tag to the server times-stamped with the date, time and location of the scan.

The rest of the functionality is the same as described above for the RFLink. The disadvantage of this option is that student action to scan the tag is required.

When the truck arrives at its destination, it drops off the trailer and drives away, at this point the RFLink between the RFTag installed on the trailer and the Piccolo Plus installed on the truck is broken and the Piccolo Plus will send a disconnect message to Fleet.net with the RFTag ID, time stamp, date and GPS location of the trailer drop off location.

The RFTags can also serve as wireless temperature sensors and wireless IO‘s for numerous status monitoring applications.
